COWBOY BOOTS
Cowboy boots are a style that has been around for a long time. You have seen celebrities wearing them, you have seen them featured on the cover of magazines, and you have even seen them in television shows.
Cowboy or western boots are not only for show though. Long before celebrities started wearing the cowboy footwear though, the boots were used by cowboys as practical footwear for work.
Cowboy boots were developed over years of trial and errors to fit the needs of cowboys for their work. They needed footwear that would protect their feet. This meant that cowboy footwear had to stay strong and protective even when cowboys had to work on breaking horses, working cattle, and as they perform those nasty little jobs that require them to constantly mount and dismount their horses. The terrain itself was also rather rough, so these booties really had to prove their worth if to survive these people.
It is believed that cowboy footwear didn’t start with cowboys. In fact, it is thought that it all started with cavalry boots way back in the 1860’s. these booties were tried, remade, and tried again until they formed the perfect cowboy boot that was formed to fit the foot and easy to get in the stirrups. It makes sense that these footwear were made were the most cattle were located, and it makes just as much sense that the most boot makers were also located in this area. This was around Texas and Kansas and these makers of western boots were specialized in forming these much needed booties.
Today, cowboy footwear aren’t just for the cowboys. They are now also for the fashionable people. The more fashionable cowgirl boots have higher heels and pointier toes. You usually won’t find the pointed toes in work boots, but the high heels are key for stirrup safety. The heels keep the foot from slipping through therefore keeping their legs from getting caught in the stirrups when they are close to being thrown off.
The fashion boots can have laces and can be decorated or made with different things depending on the boot. Cowboy boots may be decorated with rhinestones or studs, and they can be made from leather, alligator, ostrich, snake, and buffalo.
There are a number of different brands of cowboy & western boots. Some of the most seen footwear on the market are Justin, Nocona, and Tony Lama’s. These cowboy footwear are normally good construction and attractive to look at. If you don’t mind paying a little more for your boots then Dan Post and Lucchese booties are good quality cowgirl boots as well. For the most part these boots will range from $200 up, and if you are interested in costume footwear then you would be paying $500 to $1000, or more.
When you choose your booties you should be sure that they fit correctly. You should also remember that though the booties made for fashion are sturdy and good for a little work, but they are not work boots. If you are looking for work or riding boots you should defiantly buy footwear meant for work and not show.
